Filip Hamerlinck

Artist sculptor

Filip Hamerlinck (°1964) makes sculptures, which combine an intuitive and cerebral approach. His work finds its origin in the interaction between thinking and feeling. The simplicity of his works are deceivingly childish and hide a complex strategy and analytical process.

As a former fighter pilot, he experienced the essence of his job as being aware of his position in space and time, relative to surrounding static and dynamic factors, better known as ‘situational awareness’. As an artist he is exploring the translation of this three-dimensional consciousness into sculptures.

As a former fighter pilot, he experienced the essence of his job as being aware of his position in space and time, relative to surrounding static and dynamic factors, better known as ‘situational awareness’. As an artist he is exploring the translation of this three-dimensional consciousness into sculptures.

It took Hamerlinck some time to discover the joy of making, but it hasn’t left him ever since. Starting with some expositions at CAS Zottegem and Klein Begijnhof Gent in 2019, Balegem Kunstroute in 2020, he joined the PASS2021 expo last summer with the Fishing/Hunting sculpture.

At TALE ART GALLERY he will show One 1000 Works, where the cube serves as a reference for his work. A three-dimensional pixel which interacts with space, by dividing itself and filling the imaginary world around it.
