Emotions and intuition, wonder, visual research, structures, play and events, nature, sound, improvised and composed music and musical notation, poetry and literature, travelling by car, drawing materials and tent, working at different locations … are things that were and are important for his drawn and painted dialogue with and creation of the world. More and more, however, his work finds inspiration in itself and his progressive visual research evolves into a creative process where one work spontaneously inspires the next, where the image arises from the image.
He describes his work as “geometry of the heart in the language of the senses”. As an ethical, moral, involved, sensitive geometric abstraction whose simple beauty in itself as committed art is sufficient. An art whose foundations for him are intimacy, morality and ethics, beauty, drama, consolation and joy.
Marc Goddefroy studied painting in higher art education in the studio of Dan Van Severen. He then worked briefly as a restorer of murals and plasterwork, as an educator for court children and had a demanding professional career in education, mainly in coordinating positions in the fields of graphics, photography, the visual arts and the performing arts. In September 2016 he stopped these professional activities to devote himself entirely to his work and today he is an independent visual artist in his local company “Dromen en denken” “Dreams and thoughts”
