Inge Dompas

Artist painter

Inge Dompas’ work is about the transiency and volatility of life.
Oil is her favorite medium.
Her paintings are a way to put on hold everything that comes and goes and bring it to the attention of the spectator.
As globalization is shaping our world, our lives are moving faster and faster. One of the artist’s recurring subjects is the hectic pace of today’s society in which we are forever on our way.

In her streetscapes she tries to capture the interactions and movement of life in the city.
She observes urban nature and its passers-by from unusual perspectives or close-ups and tries to visualize the anonymity of the mass as well as the rare and precious moments of true contact and intimacy.
By visually balancing between the abstract world and her once so outspoken figures, the artist wants to emphasize the anonymity of the individual in today’s world.

Not all of her paintings are streetscapes. Sometimes her work is about the volatility and elusiveness of memories, or the thin line between dream and reality. And sometimes she just wants to capture a gesture, an action that is already gone even before it can be put on canvas.

Inge Dompas is a Belgian contemporary artist with a studio in Herent. All of her work is about the transiency and volatility of life.

Inge has been a professional artist since 2007. Her work has been included in public and private collections all over the world.

Art has fascinated her since early childhood. Over the course of twenty years she completed several classes in drawing, graphics, photography and painting and graduated at the Municipal Academy of Arts in Leuven (Belgium). This taught her a myriad of techniques through which to express her art, though her preferred medium remains oils.
From her background in urban planning she is especially interested in the movements of large crowds and their relation to the urban environment and its rules and regulations. By visually balancing between the abstract world and her once so outspoken figures, the artist wants to emphasize the anonymity of the individual in today’s world.
Her paintings are a way to put on hold everything that comes and goes and bring it to the attention of the spectator.
As globalization is shaping our world, our lives are moving faster and faster. One the artist’s recurring subjects is the hectic pace of today’s society in which we are forever on our way.
